For more information click on this site..... 2009 AHSGR Convention

The convention will take place in the Medicine Hat Lodge, http://www.medhatlodge.com/. Leona Mann and Mabel Kiessling are the co-chairs for the convention.

Additional details will be posted on the AHSGR web site and in future newsletters.

A "sneak preview" of the 2009 convention in Medicine Hat was presented during the 2008 convention in Casper Wyoming, and packets of information about Medicine Hat and the surrounding area were available to read and take for later review.

Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the AHSGR 2009 Convention 15-21 June 2009 in Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada. Remember – passports are now required to leave and enter the United States and Canada. Don’t delay renewing your existing or obtaining a new one.

Our yearly Convention is a great place to meet fellow German-Russians, enjoy the many informative presentations and workshops, and research your family roots to learn more about your ancestors. Computer work stations for the Saving Our Ancestral Records (SOAR) computer based records, research tools from our library, village records, the AHSGR Surname file containing over 477,400 names, plus paper records including village maps and descendant charts based on records from Russia are only a few of the tools available to convention researchers. Conventions are also a great place to volunteer. You meet so many new and interesting people and make a lot of new friends.

We are looking forward to another exciting storytelling contest this year. Story contest entries for 1999 through 2002 have been published in We Remember: Stories of the Germans from Russia and the entries for 2003 through 2006 have been published in Treasured Tales - Stories of the Germans from Russia. Entries for 2007, 2008 and 2009 will be published in the future.
