Member Inquiries

German from Russia Humor and Folklore
Our German from Russia people used to have meetings of the heads of each household at the church, or whatever served as a town hall for the village (Dorf). Here decisions were made which affected the rules, policies, and management of the village. It is said that our people were so conservative they, as a matter of principle, opposed any changes.
One day, the head of one of the families had to travel to a neighboring village to conduct some business on the same day as the town meeting. His business delayed him. It upset him terribly to think what those other guys might come up with if he were not at the meeting to stop them. Thus, he raced his horse back to the village, and ran into the meeting room yelling, "For God's sake, don't do it! Don't do it!" If you have any Germans from Russia jokes, songs, or folklore that you are willing to contribute, please send it (them) to:

Many of our families came from the FRANK colony. If your are doing research in that area it is recommended to visit Clarence Kissler's FRANK VILLAGE Web site. Surname lists, history and references are there to aid in your search.
