Membership Benefits

• Access to member services including a request for search of Society records for historical and genealogical purposes, and document translation services, all at reduced rates.

• Reduced prices on books, maps, census lists and genealogical charts.  Hundreds of individual selections to choose from .

• The surnames and villages you are researching will be listed in the Society's surname exchange publication Clues and its updates (if information is received before June). Note: you must submit a Family Group Chart and an Ancestral Chart, completed to the extent you can, OR a GEDCOM of your records for inclusion in Clues

• Reduced membership registration fees for the AHSGR Annual Conventions.

• As a member of AHSGR you are encouraged to join and participate in local chapter activities. Visit the chapter list on this web site to see if there is a chapter near you. (Participation in chapter activities may require a small chapter membership fee.)

• Internet search capability for a number of AHSGR historical records and publications with reduced copying rates for Society members.

AHSGR Membership Levels and Dues

Basic Annual Membership ($35.00)

• All member benefits, voting rights & notices except NO Journal, Newsletter of Clues.

Standard Annual Membership ($50.00)

• All members benefits, voting rights, notices including Journal & Newsletter except NO Clues.

Premium Annual Membership ($100.00)

• All members benefits, voting rights, notices including Journal & Newsletter plus Clues & Membership Plus Subscription.

Life Membership
(Full payment or annual installment payment over a 5-year period)

• All members benefits, voting rights, notices including Journal & Newsletter plus Clues & Membership Plus Subscription.

Junior Memberships: (Youth $8.00 and Students $15.00)

• Youth - (14 years old & younger) (non-voting member) - Most member benefits, notices including "Kinderzeitung-Kids Newsletter" & NO Clues

• Student - (15 years to 24 years old) - All members benefits, voting rights, notices including Journal, Newsletter & NO Clues

Institutional Membership (non-voting member): ($50.00)

• No member benefits. Receives Journal & Newsletter & NO Clues & not eligible for the Membership Plus Subscription.

AHSGR Membership annually renewals are due each January 1.

Additional Commentary:

1. Clues - A genealogy helper for researching family histories: Lists of Villages & surnames that AHSGR members are searching. Lists AHSGR members contacts who are willing to exchange research information and the AHSGR Village Coordinator Network.  Provides instructions for submitting GEDCOM files to the AHSGR database.  GEDCOM is an acronym for GEnealogical Data COMmunication.  Important consideration: to be listed/published in Clues, do NOT select the "Privacy Option" on the printable Membership Application and Data Form.

2. Membership Plus Subscription - Membership Plus is a fee based subscription option available only to AHSGR members (except Institutional Memberships).  As a Premium or Life member, there is no additional fee for the Membership Plus subscription.  This added value genealogy option allows for unlimited search, view & download of any available database online Save Our Ancestral Records (SOAR) site. Standard members who subscribe to Membership Plus will automatically be upgraded to a Premium Membership.
