Our chapter's purpose is to bring together people interested in the history and heritage of Germans from Russia.  Through a better understanding and appreciation of our culture and heritage, we will promote the preservation of our history for future generations.

Our Chapter was formed in 1972 in order to reach out to those Germans from Russia who live in the greater Saginaw Valley region. The Chapter encourages historical interest and genealogical research as well as fellowship at our meetings throughout the year.

Membership Information

Local Chapter Dues:
Local chapter dues are $5 per person or $8.00 for husband and wife.

International Dues

Individual: $50.00
Family: $50.00 (includes husband and wife)
Institutional: $50.00
Contributing: $75.00
Sustaining: $100.00
Life: $750.00 (may be paid in five annual installments)

Memberships are based on a calendar year, due each January 1.
Dues in excess of $40.00 may be tax deductible as allowed by law.

A newsletter and calendar is published at the beginning of each year and updated as necessary and mailed to all chapter members and interested person wishing communication.

Chapter Meetings:  We meet the 4th Tuesday of February, April, August, and October. Additionally, we also have a Christmas dinner celebration.  We meet at Zauel Library @ 3100 N. Center Road in Saginaw Township.

All events are open to the public... you do not have to be a member to attend! Please contact any board member for verification of meeting times and places since changes can occur from the time this information was available.

There are planned programs for each meeting as well as time for fellowship. Refreshments are served and a free will donation is asked.

We have a collection of Germans from Russia books and other materials of interest. These include historical books, maps, and other genealogical resource books available to our membership. A selection from our library collection is usually available at our chapter meetings. Members may check out and return at the meetings or by contacting our librarians, Jane Hohonsee. 

Additionally we have in book form the baptisms, confirmations, and marriages from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saginaw available from Betty Guenther at beegee@sebewaing.net
