The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia introduced Aaron Farber as the Executive Director of its Lincoln headquarters on February 5, 2020.

“On behalf of our dedicated Executive Director search committee, I am proud to welcome Aaron,” said Dodie Rotherham, the president of AHSGR. “Aaron joins our society after serving in various leadership positions in Lincoln.”

The core of Farber’s professional focus has been in the areas of leadership team management, public policy research, community outreach, fundraising, member relations, and writing member success stories.

The last seven years Farber served as Executive Director of the Fallbrook YMCA in Lincoln, where he collaborated with local leaders, patrons, staff and stakeholders to manage one of the Midwest region’s most revered, shared project in partnership with School Middle School

Farber is also actively involved in local organizations including but not limited to Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Committee member, the Branch Oak Observatory and Leadership Lincoln, Inc.

“Preserving and gathering of Germans from Russia (“GR”) documents is a vital part of not only Lincoln, Nebraska’s early history, but the early settlement histories of countless communities throughout the Western Hemisphere,” said Farber, regarding his new position. “As a German descendent, I’m very enthused about taking on this position, and I’m blessed to be inheriting a dedicated Board and thoughtful team of staff and volunteers.”

Farber’s “Hessian” surname and genealogy partly descends back to the region now known as the State of Hesse in central Germany—an area which Aaron dreams of visiting one day soon.
