Dear AHSGR Members, Convention Guests & Researchers:

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve globally, it is our intent to keep you updated with the latest decisions on upcoming activities coordinated by the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR). Most notably, those activities as they pertain to public health concerns tied to COVID-19.

Late last week, after some heartfelt discussion, and following a consensus vote of our Society’s Board of Directors, the AHSGR and this year’s Convention host Chapter(s), have moved a motion to postpone/reschedule the 51st Annual Convention of AHSGR (originally slated in 2020 for Pasco, Washington) to new dates in the summer of 2021.

This consensus vote was tied directly to ongoing participant travel concerns, and the continued safety uncertainties that COVID-19 has brought in relation to large gatherings. Because we value the well-being of you and your loved ones during this unique time in our history, the decision to postpone this calling card event was the safest and most proper call. On behalf of AHSGR, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change of schedule may cause you.

We are currently circling the week of July 27th thru July 31st of 2021 at the Red Lion in Pasco, Washington as our newest Annual Convention dates (you heard it hear first!). So do please “Save the Date” in your outward calendars…and if you had already booked a hotel room for 2020 at the Red Lion as part of the AHSGR group of blocked rooms, your reservation WILL BE honored in full through next year’s convention week. For all further questions on your personal hotel reservations, to cancel your room for 2020, or to ensure your existing reservation is committed for 2021, do please call the Red Lion in Pasco, Washington directly.

The AHSGR Headquarters here in Lincoln, Nebraska, is still here to answer any Annual Convention 2021 rescheduling questions you may have. If you wish to speak directly to AHSGR staff on the matter, we encourage you to call our office (402-474-3363) during our business hours of 9:00am-4:00pm CST.

Our website, in addition to our Facebook and Twitter feeds, will have ongoing updates when available. We encourage you to follow these pages for the latest on AHSGR happenings throughout the coming months.

As always, AHSGR will still offer genealogy services for members and non-members via online or call-in request. To find more information, go to https://www.ahsgr.org/page/GenealogyServices

….also, it is membership renewal season, so if you are wishing to renew your membership, you can mail a check directly to AHSGR Headquarters along with your membership information, or simply go to https://www.ahsgr.org/page/Join to complete the process online.

Thanks again for your continued patronage and for keeping German Russian heritage alive.

Be safe, everyone.

Best,

AHSGR Board, Staff & Convention Host Chapter Leadership

Thanks to the Board for their courageous decision. Too many old people going to our conventions for us to take the risk.

I am disappointed as this was to be my first convention. But I understand, and I will definitely plan on coming next summer.
