Description

Afternoon tour includes three museums:

-- Ellis County Historical Society: Transport yourself in time to the settlement of Ellis County, when nearly 30 different groups struggled to tame the land. The largest immigrant groups to settle in the county were Germans from the Volga region of Russia, and Bukovina from Austria-Hungary. A Volga German Haus replicate of an early immigrant dwelling, complete with authentic furnishings, is one of the gems you'll see here.

-- Sternberg Museum of Natural History: Museum collections include one of the finest assemblies of Pteranadon material, the largest collection of fossil grass seeds and a truly outstanding collection of Cretaceous marine and Neogene terrestrial vertebrate fossils. These are complemented by excellent collections of modern biological material, remarkable mammals, reptiles and plans.

-- Bukovina Society Headquarters-Museum: This museum maintains a collection of artifacts from Bukovina emigrants, along with a small library of books. In 1907, through the generosity of the congregation and local citizens, the present building was erected.

Refreshments included.
